About Ray

I retired during the pandemic after teaching English for 33 years, 12 in Cecil County, Maryland, high schools, and 21 at Delaware Technical Community College. I continue serving at my church as a deacon, teacher, and musician, and am speding more time than ever writing.  My stories, essays, and poems have been published in various print and web publications. My books include Blues for a Dime Store Guitar, a novel; Keeping It Between the Ditches: Living the Christian Life, a “thematic” memoir; Life in the Cathode Ray Glow, a short story collection; and The Good and Ancient Way: Christian Spirituality for Post-Modern Times.

If conflict and resolution are at the heart of good writing, I certainly have plenty to share.

I speak to both secular and church groups about critical thinking, writing, Christian spirituality, and family life.  If you’re interested in finding out more or scheduling an event, shoot me an email: raysikes[at]gmail[dot]com.
